German Village – Experience Columbus

Much like the rest of the country, home values are on the rise in Columbus. However, the median home price remains far below the national median—$317,513 (Columbus Realtors) versus $432,812 (Redfin)—and there’s an increase in the number of homes being listed (an 11.9% increase year over year, according to Columbus Realtors). These factors, along with the low cost of living, diverse homes and thriving local economy, helped Columbus be named the No. 8 Best Housing Market in Spring 2024 by The Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com.

Of course, sales price varies by community and some communities are more expensive than others. In 2023, the most expensive communities were New Albany (average sales price of $1,183,864), Upper Arlington ($658,487) and Powell ($636,542), according to Columbus Realtors.

Columbus renters also have an advantage over many other cities, with the average rent for an apartment in Columbus being $1,248, lower than the national average of $1,713, according to RentCafe.com. The most expensive neighborhoods in which to rent are Dennison Place ($1,980), Indianola Forest ($1,980) and Indianola Terrace ($1,980).
