Franklin Park Conservatory is hosting its monthly Chihuly night this Saturday

By Joe Frye

With temperatures regularly dipping below freezing in Ohio, it may seem to be time to get your fix of the great outdoors from somewhere besides, well, outside. Luckily, The Franklin Park Conservatory is hosting its monthly Chihuly night this Saturday, offering Columbus residents a chance to stroll beneath the stars, the trees and 18 Dale Chihuly blown-glass installations.

The conservatory boasts the largest private collection of Chihuly sculptures worldwide and offers visitors the unique chance to see them illuminated under the night sky. Chihuly, the American glass blower, is widely celebrated as one of the most famous and successful artists in his craft. His work has been exhibited and installed all over the world.

In addition to the sculptures, the conservatory is enhancing the entertainment by including live music. This weekend, Honey & Blue Trio, the pop and soul fusion band, will be soundtracking the evening. While admiring the glasswork, visitors are invited to engage with the rest of the conservatory’s offerings. Currently, the orchids exhibit, a tribute to the islands of Hawaii, and the interactive “Color, Fly, Butterfly” exhibition are open for guests to explore.

This monthly engagement will continue through the fall with the conservatory celebrating Chihuly and his art on Saturday nights once a month.

February 22, 7-10 p.m. You can find information and tickets on the conservatory’s website.
