Gobble Up These Thanksgiving Races
Columbus residents are well-equipped to squeeze a run in before the festivities kick off

Along with the turkey and pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28) races have become a staple of the holiday. With multiple races going on, Columbus residents are well-equipped to squeeze in a run before the festivities kick off. Here are four races happening in the area for the holiday weekend.
The Flying Feather
Located in Dublin, The Flying Feather features two races, a four-mile course and a quarter-mile course aimed at children. Open to those looking to walk, run or anything in between, everyone is encouraged to come out with their family and get some exercise before dinner. With the registration fee, racers will receive their bib, a sweatshirt and a finish medal. Perhaps most notably, runners over 21 will receive a bottle of wine to bring to Thanksgiving dinner. Moreover, a book drive will be accepting donations of K-6 books, that will be distributed to Central Ohio schools.
$60, 9 a.m. start time.
You can find more information on the race’s website.
Columbus Turkey Trot
The Columbus Turkey Trot is celebrating its 39th year next Thursday. With the race taking place in Upper Arlington, there will be three options for runners. A five-mile and 2.8-mile course is open to all, while there is a course exclusive to those 9 and below. All participants will receive a race medal and a tee shirt from HOMAGE with their registration fee. Runners are also encouraged to bring canned goods and winter wear, for drives supporting children in Central Ohio.
$60, 9 a.m. start time.

Delaware Turkey Trot
Those looking to support a good cause while they run can check out the Delaware Turkey Trot, where all proceeds go to the Autism Society of Central Ohio. With a roughly 5k- and 2k-race, as well as a kid’s run, all the family can join in on the race. Finishers of the race will receive a long-sleeved t-shirt, a medal, a drawstring bag and a dessert to celebrate their accomplishment.
$45 if you register before Nov. 24, 8:30 a.m. start time.

Columbus Hungry Turkey Run
With all the races taking place on Thursday, the Columbus Hungry Turkey Run sets itself apart by taking place on Saturday, Nov. 30 after Thanksgiving. Located downtown, there are four races to choose from: a 5k, 10k, 1/3 marathon and a kids run. Runners will receive multiple items with their registration fee including a t-shirt, a hat and an assortment of snacks. At the finish line, runners will receive a medal as well. Even better, the Columbus Hungry Turkey Run will donate a portion of the race proceeds to The Humane Society Delaware County.
