Fight winter boredom with an educational visit

The Central Ohio Fire Museum in Columbus, Ohio, offers a family-friendly indoor activity this winter. Attend one of the museum’s daily tours and learn about local firefighter history or join a fire safety class. The Central Ohio Fire Museum has educational programs for all ages, from children to seniors.  

Join the Central Ohio Fire Museum in its antique building and learn about firefighting from the era of horse-drawn carriages to today’s gasoline-powered engines. The Central Ohio Fire Museum was built in 1908 and was converted into a museum in 1983 by a group of firefighters to ensure that firefighter history is preserved. 

Beyond learning about firefighting past and present, the Central Ohio Fire Museum offers a selection of fire safety classes for its educational programs. The Central Ohio Fire Museum in Columbus offers an Interactive Fire Safety Bedroom and “Key Steps to a Home Escape Plan” for older children and a “Matches and Lighters Are Tools, Not Toys” program for younger children. For adults, the Central Ohio Fire Museum offers an adult “Key Steps to a Home Escape Plan” program with an additional adapted version for people with disabilities.
